This article claims that the brewery was "Leased in 1759 by Arthur Guinness for 9,000 years at £45 per year." I don't think Arthur Guinness was alive for 9000 years. 1759 was only 247 years ago. --Jcaxels 19:32, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

The lease was indeed for 9,000 years, and passed to his estate on his death; it remains in force today. See http://www.guinness-storehouse.com/some_history.htm . Since this is a fairly well-known and undisputed fact, I'm removing the dispute tag. Simonk133 14:09, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Brewbox

Why is the brewbox here and not on Guinness? --Stlemur 22:40, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Other Breweries?

Why are there breweries from Dundalk and other places placed here if the article is specifically aimed towards the history of St. James' Gate? Should there not be more information on what used to be on the site of the modern day factory rather than information on other breweries on the country? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.100.38.226 (talk) 02:13, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Guinness Draught Logo.svg

Image:Guinness Draught Logo.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
