[edit] Stats

Obviously the St George and Illawarra clubs are part of SGI's history, but it's a new team. Statistics have started afresh and are quite separate, just as with the Tigers and N.Eagles. The next premiership will be their first, Barrett has only played 134 games not 179 for them etc. --Paul 10:43, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Yep agree. That's the way it's done in almost every stat/record book I've seen. Gotta keep 'em seperated. AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 13:38, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Despite this being the way most record books report statistics, I can assure you this is not the way the Club sees it, and the Club is trying to make the NRL see their point of view on ths. As far as St George Illawarra management are concerned, the next premiership will be the club's 16th
The basic reason behind this is that no club has discontinued their history to be a part of the Joint Venture, rather their history has been ongoing. To go on with the example of Barrett, Trent has not played for any other club than that which he started with.
Anyway, it's a tricky one, but I stand fully behind the Club's view that, while St George Illawarra has its own statistics, historical statistics of St George Dragons and Illawarra Steelers should be counted as part of this club's history. Gonzerelli 01:29, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Maybe, then, in the infobox it could show like Premierships: 0 (15/0) to indicate St.G-Ill's single, with (Dragons / Steelers) stats in the brackets. Then a note or section could be added to the article about the differing views on their stats - David Middleton and the NRL want it as a new entity, the club and a lot of fans (usu. St George) want them all to be added. AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 03:25, 25 February

Nice suggestion AM, one I'll go with. :) Gonzerelli 03:40, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
I won't change it, but I don't agree. To apply this to the Tigers they've won 16 premierships too. Balmain 11, Wests 4, WT 1 .. don't think so. Furthermore they were premiers and runners up in the same year (1948). And if it's 15 titles for SGI (at present) what about actual games won and lost? StG and Ill. added together? Then some games will count as a loss and win. So in closing.. Eric Grothe, jr has no titles under his belt, not 0 (0/4) 'cause of his Dad's :) --Paul 06:51, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Financial situation

Just a quick note, is it true that both clubs were financially struggling before the merger? I was under the impression that St. George were the wealthy ones, and Illawarra needed the money. I mean, it was only earlier this year when the Steelers Club paid off their debt to St. George wasn't it? Nintenmo 13:38, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The dot...

Anyone notice the disappearing dot: St. ? The article title omits it, but it appears off and on in the text. Strangely also, even though logo clearly has it, the SGI website doesn't use it uniformly either.

To be honest, I hadn't paid that much attention to this (which is ironic since I was the person who was so pedantic about the removal of the dash from the name!). Very interesting now you point this out.
The logo, of course, has a dot. But by and large, the dot is not used. I guess it's a matter of convenience rather than rigidly sticking to a rule.
I don't feel the title of this article needs a period added, however if you feel the need to create a redirect page then go for it. (Then again, this may not be needed, as there have been no problems to date with creating links to this article...)

[edit] Brown

Someone might want to add something in about how brown became coach (and even when he became coach). Right now there is nothing. Macktheknifeau 15:52, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Stgidragons.jpg

Image:Stgidragons.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] 2007

Looks like someone wants a 2007 page. Alexsanderson83 07:42, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

not necessarily, I don't think run on sides should be included at all. Michellecrisp 07:50, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Moved run-on side to 2007 page. Londo06 20:53, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

We need more stuff for the 2007 season Chorocobo 11:09, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "40" players

With Head and Williams gone mid-season is it still accurate to say there are "40 signed players" in the squad ? if so what are the names of the two new ones ? -Sticks66 13:28, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merge proposal

St George Illawarra Dragons 2007 should be merged into this article. The only information it contains is an end-of-season table. If there is any more relevant information, it should be conatined in this article. If not, just mention the Dragons' 2007 position (in this article)-- if people want a full table they can go to the NRL article. Cdlw93 05:36, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

  • Merge it, the end of season transfers can be maintained on the main article anyway. - Vicer 15:09, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
