St. Thomas College of Teacher Education, Pala is a teacher education institution accredited at the 4 star level by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council).
It was established in 1957 and is also one of the pioneer institutions in the field of teacher education. It was started to meet a precise need, ie. to train teachers for the secondary and Higher Secondary schools in our country. The idea was conceived and was made into reality by the then Bishop of the diocese of Pala, His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Sebastian Vayalil. He was also the first patron of our institution. From 1981 to 2004 Rt.Rev.Mar. Joseph Pallickaparampil was our patron. His Excellency Mar. Joseph Kallarangattu is our present patron. Msgr. Enas Ottathengumkal is the Manager and Rev. Dr. Sr. P.T. Mary is the Principal from the academic year 2004-2005. From the academic year 2005-2006 we are offering M.Ed. Course also on self-financing mode. They have applied for starting Elementary Teacher Education Course (TTC) for the academic year 2006-2007and in pursuance of the application NCTE team visited the college on 6th September 2006 and we are waiting for the sanction from NCTE.
