[edit] History

St. Robert Catholic High School is a high school in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. St. Robert CHS was opened by the York Catholic District School Board in 1975, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2005. It was originally intended as an elementary school, but later saw the transition to high school. St. Robert CHS is named after St. Robert Bellarmine. St. Robert offers special programs such as the world renowned International Baccalaureate program, ESL, and Aviation Technology. The enrollment averages between 1400 and 1500 students per school year.

St. Robert Catholic High School also holds the reputation for being the oldest Catholic High School in York Region, and in recent years has lost a large percentage of its student population to newer, more modern high schools opening in the area, hence special programs are offered, including the aforementioned, International Baccalaureate program.

[edit] Uniform

For boys, the uniform consists of a white golf shirt and black dress pants. For girls, the uniform consists of a golf shirt, as well as dress pants. Solid black footwear must also be worn. In addition to this, students may also wear a green knit sweater or vest (with school crest) over the school uniform. Students may also choose to wear a special black or green crew neck "spirit" sweatshirt or sports uniform. The spirit sweatshirt includes the name of the sport/club they participate in, their number and the first initial of their first name with their full surname. All above mentioned articles of clothing can be purchased at R.J. McCarthy's, supplier of uniforms for Catholic schools in Canada. This excludes the spirit sweatshirt which is available through the physical education department

Students who were enrolled into the school before the 2007-2008 school year are eligible to "grandfather" old pieces of the school uniform until June 2010. These pieces of uniform include the oxford dress shirt and tie, the black polarfleece sweatshirt and the most commonly, incorrectly worn, green patterned kilt.

[edit] Time Table

The school hours are 8:30am to 2:32pm, Monday to Friday.

The school also runs on a "Day 1", "Day 2" schedule. On Day 1, Students have their classes in the proper order (Period 1, Period 2, Period 3 with lunch, and Period 4). On Day 2, the last 2 periods are flipped with lunch now being in what is normally Period 4 (Period 1, Period 2, Period 4 with lunch, and Period 3).
