[edit] Saint Mary of the Hills School

The school, located at 250 Brook Rd., serves students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8. St. Mary's currently enrolls over 300 children of many different backgrounds and nationalities.

[edit] School history

St. Mary's School was founded in 1958 by Kelly and Fred Dolan, and opened its doors to the children of the parish on September 8, 1958, under the auspices of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters. Monsignor Francis N. Flaherty was the Pastor; and he, together with a most generous and supportive parish community, oversaw the building of the school structure.

In 1990, St. Mary of the Hills School added a full-day Kindergraten program to its existing program of Grades 1-8. In 1999, the first full-day Pre-Kindergarten for 4 year olds was added. Due to demand, a second was added the following year. The school now provides spiritual, academic, and social education for students in Pre-K through Grade 8 who live in Milton and surrounding areas. St. Mary of the Hills School maintains very high academic standards for its students; and its students continue to excel in secondary and higher education.

[edit] Mission Statement

Saint Mary of the Hills School brings students, teachers, parents, and parishioners together to form a community devoted to the joy of learning, grounded in Catholic faith and inspired by the love of Jesus Christ.

From Early Childhood through Eighth Grade, we encourage each child to recognize his or her full, unique potential. As their mastery of core academic skills grows, our students become capable, disciplined, passionate seekers of knowledge and truth.

Religious instruction furthers their growth as reflective young men and women whose ethical choices flow, intuitively, from their faith, whose hearts are attuned to the call of justice, and whose inclination to self-respect and kindness to others becomes instinctive. We recognize, respect and rejoice in the diversity of the Saint Mary’s community.

We believe that being part of this community strengthens all of us in meeting the challenges of our lives—as scholars, citizens, family members, and as active bearers of Christ’s compassion to the wider world.
