St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital is a Baylor College of Medicine-affiliated hospital located in Houston, Texas and is a part of the larger St. Luke's Episcopal Health System, which includes the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Texas Heart Institute (THI), St. Luke's Episcopal Health Charities, St. Luke's Episcopal Health Network, Kelsey-Seybold physician group, and St. Luke's Community Medical Center - The Woodlands.[2][3] Founded in 1954 by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, the hospital has received many awards, especially for the Texas Heart Institute. As of 2007, the Texas Heart Institute has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 10 heart centers in the U.S. for the past 17 years.[4]. The Texas Heart Institute was ranked #7 for heart care in the 2007 Best Hospitals edition of the U.S. News & World Report.[5]

  • 1945 - The hospital is originally chartered as a 180 bed, non-profit, general hospital.[3]
  • 1947 - The charter increases to include 300 beds.[3]
  • 1962 - The hospital affiliates with Texas Heart Institute.[3]
  • 1997 - The Episcopal Diocese of Texas establishes the non-profit St. Luke's Episcopal Health System.[3]
  • 2002 - St. Luke's finalizes its purchase of the physician group, Kelsey-Seybold Management Services, LLP.[3]
  • 2003 - St. Luke's Episcopal Health System opens St. Luke's Diagnostic & Treatment Center - Kirby Glen and St. Luke's Community Medical Center-The Woodlands.[3]
