St. Lucie West Centennial High School is a Five-star Award winning high school in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Due to overcrowding, the school district is offering students who live in certain areas the option to attend the new $74 million Fort Pierce Central High School, which is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2008.[3] The school has a Teacher/Student Ratio of 1.21.

- Received full accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools[4]
- Leadership Class developed and performed anti-domestic violence play for area middle and high school students
- Local, district and regional awards for Spanish, debate, science, history, HOSA, band and chorus
- Average SAT score higher than the state average
- This school was given a grade of "D" by the Florida Department of Education in 2006-2007; the school appealed the grade and it was changed to a "C.". In 2005-2006, this school received a "C". In 2004-2005, this school received a "C". [5]
Over 800 students are enrolled in AP coursework.
The school has been the recipient of Project Aspire, a grant that provides computer laptops for online and accelerated courses. Some students participate in a clinical rotation instruction program with the port St. Lucie Medical center.[6]

[edit] Operation Safe Kid
In 2002, after the school had 30 incidents of alcohol and drug related problems in the previous year, a police sting operation was conducted at the school, in which a Sherrif Deputy posed as a senior student for 6 months. As a result of the operation, 16 students and one non-student were arrested, mostly on drug-related charges. [7][8]
