St. Joseph's College is a Catholic, undergraduate, liberal arts college that also serves as a residence and place of worship for the Catholic community on campus. It is affiliated with the University of Alberta and the Archdiocese of Edmonton, and is currently operated by the Basilian Fathers.

The mission of the college is "to discover, integrate, and disseminate truth, as revealed by God, discerned by reason, experienced in community".[2] This is why throughout the academic year it offers regular services to the students on campus such as the Last Chance mass at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday evenings. St. Joseph's Campus Ministry offers a variety of services and events such as the September Canoe Trip and the January Antioch Retreat. In addition, there is a weekday Mass as well as adoration and confession usually on Fridays (confession can also be by appointment). Chaplains are almost always available for pastoral care and spiritual direction.

The college offers classes on a variety of topics, all with an emphasis on deepening the understanding of the Catholic faith. Courses are offered in Christian Theology, Philosophy, and Religious Education. They are credit courses for all degree programs requiring an Arts elective. In addition, students in the B.A. program can opt to have Christian Theology as a Minor.

There is also a Catholic men's residence with living accommodations for sixty. Camaraderie, hearty, delicious meals and a prime location make the College Residence a top choice for students looking for a place to live.

There is also a women's residence that is affiliated with the College, though not located in the College proper.
