St. Joseph's College is an autonomous institution affiliated to Bangalore University. The college offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science and humanities.

The college was founded in 1882 by the Fathers of the French Foreign Mission. In 1937, the college was handed over to the Society of Jesus, a Catholic religious order dedicated to the education of young people. The college moved from the Residency Road campus to new premises in the erstwhile Hostel campus at the intersection of Langford Road and Lalbagh Road in 2001. It was one of the five Bangalore colleges that were awarded academic autonomy in the year 2005.
