St. Johns is a village in Surrey, England located about 3km west of Woking. Neighbouring villages include Knaphill, Horsell, Goldsworth Park and Hook Heath.
The Basingstoke Canal runs through the village and was built in the 19th century when the village was first built. This was in order to help the inhabitants who were mainly labourers from the local brickworks. As the village grew, in 1842 The Church of St John the Baptist was built from the design of Sir George Gilbert Scott[2] .
St. Johns village centre has a mix of shops and businesses to help meet the needs of the local community including a chemist, small supermarket, restaurants and offices. There is also a range of leisure and community facilities. The centre has a distinctive character thanks to its locality next to St Johns Lye and the Basingstoke Canal and buildings dating from the late Victorian/Edwardian period.
