St. George's R.C. Primary School is a Roman Catholic primary school in Enfield, North London and has been in existence, on its site in Gordon Road, Enfield 1939. With the current popularity of the school means that there is regular and heavy oversubscription resulting in a stable roll. The present headteacher was appointed in January 1989, she is supported by a management team of three, and a committed, dedicated staff.
The school is presently organised into seventeen classes, which are chronologically parallel, mixed ability groups; the intake in September 1999 was the beginning of a school expansion to three forms of entry. The average class size is at present 30.
A purpose built Infant building consisting of five classrooms, was completed in June 1990, and a third building consisting of three classrooms, library and staffroom was completed in April 1994. The expansion of the school has resulted in a further building project which has added seven new classrooms and associated services.
The school is well known locally for its high standards of both work and behaviour. Religious Education has a key place in the curriculum but the Catholic nature of the school permeates all activities so that the shared ideals of parents, children and staff contribute to the creation of a happy, pleasant working environment.
