St. George's Church, Puthuppally

St. George Church in Puthuppally is one of Kerala's oldest Malankara Orthodox Syrian Churches. The patron saint of this parish is St. George. Situated by the side of coconut palms and a wide stretch of paddy fields, near the banks of Kodoor River, at a village called Puthuppally which is about 8 km from Kottayam Town, this church is the refuge of thousands of people all over the world who seek the intercession of St. George. It is believed that this church was established in 1640. The annual feast of this Church takes place on May 7 every year. The church has seen lot of battles for its control and finally it went to the catholicos of the east (Malankara orthodox)
