The St. Bernard Project is a non-profit organization established in March 2006 to rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina within St. Bernard Parish. Started by Washington D.C. lawyer Zack Rosenburg and his girlfriend Liz McCartney, the St. Bernard Project raises funds for building materials and recruits volunteers to help reconstruct the houses. As of January 2008, the St. Bernard Project and its volunteers have rebuilt a total of 88 homes.[1]
