[edit] History

St. Augustine's RC High School was founded in August 1969, from the merger of Holy Cross Academy, established 1907, and St. Andrew's Junior Secondary, established 1962. St. Augustine's moved to its present site on the west of Edinburgh in October 1969.

The school, named after St Augustine, is open to people of most religions, many of which are represented within the student body.

[edit] Future

Construction on a new building for St. Augustine's has finally begun, after many years wait, in 2007.

[edit] Support for Learning programme

St. Augustine's has a Support for Learning programme that is designed to assist students who have learning difficulties or special needs. The staff of the Support for Learning department have specialised training that allows them to determine the best methods of assisting students with learning needs, with both Learning Assistants and volunteer prefects providing additional support for the department. Both one-on-one tutoring and in-class assistance are provided depending on the needs of the student.

In such cases where the needs of a student are significant, they are given an official Record of Needs.[1] These students are the first to be considered when the Support for Learning staff decide their priorities.
