H.G. Stephanos Mar Theodosios founded the St.Thomas Ashram in Bhilai in 1973. Importance is given to social welfare activities and education for the village people of India. The ashram is located near Durga Station, which is 13 km away from Bhilai railway station. Fr. K.M. Varghese (1973-80), Fr. M.Varghese (1980-85) and Fr. George Mathew (1985-1994) have held charge of the Ashram. From 1994 Fr. Raju Thomas, is the superior.
