[edit] Disambiguation Link Repair - Printer

Hi,

I am very aware that linking to a disambig page is not good. But there isn't any good article for printer (as in printing currency). What if I just remove the link completely? --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 20:47, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

It would be good to have some sort of link. How about Security printing as this seems to be a label that many (most?) of these types of printers use to describe themselves? That link isn't quite perfect, as it deals with security features that may not be relevent / specific to printing currency. It is also somewhat neglected, however a link to it from the infobox might be the key to finding a new owner. ;-)
In my opinion, the value of the infobox outways the cost of a link to disam page. So I would rather see it remain as-is than drop the link completely.Srice13 21:38, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request

This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 21:43, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hypoxia vs hypoxia (Medical)

Dear User:Srice13, thanks for fixing the link to the better article on hypoxia on the osteoporosis of the jaw article. Would redirecting to Hypoxia(Medical) be an easier solution ? That way anyone linking to hypoxia would automatically be redirected to hypoxia (medical)... :-) Dr. Imbeau 02:45, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Srice13 thank you for your kind comments on the article osteonecrosis of the jaw. Authors like to name things so the same thing can be named different words or different things, the same word which causes confusion. The same is true for osteonecrosis of the jaw where various forms are given various names and ONj being currently mostly associated with the adverse effects of bisphosphonates when in fact ONj has been around long before bisphosphonates. Again thanks and keep up the good work ! Dr. Imbeau 08:22, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Health Wiki Research

A colleague and I are conducting a study on health wikis. We are looking at how wikis co-construct health information and create communities. We noticed that you are a frequent contributor to Wikipedia on health topics.

Please consider taking our survey (spam removed).

This research will help wikipedia and other wikis understand how health information is co-created and used.

We are from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The project was approved by our university research committee and members of the Wikipedia Foundation.

Thanks, Corey 16:29, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Evelyn Hernandez

I have no idea why the Evelyn Hernandez article is not encyclopedic. Her story was in the news, covered by CNN and Court TV. It is absurd to delete the article. Please tell me where to go to make my case. Kingturtle 00:52, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

You may make your case the article's talk page. It might be worth noting that the article does not provide a link to coverage of Hernandez at either CNN or CourtTV. The one Court TV reference to Hernandez was really a link to Laci Peterson article that mentioned Hernandez. A quick search at courttv.com does not turn up any articles about Hernandez in the context of Hernandez.Srice13 16:04, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Evelyn Hernandez

I removed the prod and rearranged the pargraphs to more clearly state the notability, which is derived from the Scott Peterson murder trial. The references are non-trivial and verifiable. If you feel strongly please submit for AfD. --Kevin Murray 02:52, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rogelia Cruz

Hello. I wanted to let you know the entry on Rogelia Cruz Martínez was nominated for deletion. I didn't make the nomination, but whoever did didn't bother alerting you (yet), so that's why i'm here. My guess is that you created the article because you think the subject is notable, and so do I, so if you are interested in improving the article so it is kept, I will be more than happy to help. --ChaChaFut 04:25, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply (by the way you can post here if you need to continue the thread). Indeed it seems an offended user might be trying to counter your nomination in a funny manner. I am not qualified to say whether the subject of the article you nominated is notable or not, but if anything it is very poorly written. The article you created, however, has a lot of potential and in my opinion it meets the notability requirements of a biography; it just needs some formatting, copyediting, and a further statement of why the subject is famous (other than being a Miss Universe contestant, which I believe – I'm not certain – is enough to pass the notability test). I know that Rogelia Cruz was one of the first women involved in the guerrilla in Guatemala, and as well one of the first women to receive a posthumous homage as a left-wing leader, but I am still trying to find a source that states something like that. I'll see if I can find one of my old texts from school. --ChaChaFut 05:30, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability

Per your comment at Hernandez, you may be right for a paper encyclopedia which must limit itself in physical size, but why in the world not cover every topic of interest here, so that we can present a balanced and verifiable alternative to shoddy resources. As they stand the notability criteria a purposely low to encourge inclusion, and the verifiability criteria are strict to encourage accuracy. NPOV tries to acheive balance. Despite covering what you might find trite, we seem to provide good information fo interest to many. Cheers! Kevin --Kevin Murray 03:39, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Central America

Hi there! Thanks for this edit -- you wouldn't believe how much sh*t has arisen regarding that word/point. :) Corticopia 16:29, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

I got a bit of a laugh looking at the revision history of that section. I will have to admit that I was half attempting to find a happy medium and half attempting t stir the pot. It'll be interesting to see if that sticks. ;-) SRICE13 (TALK | EDITS) 16:34, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nicaragua Tourism Section

Hi Srice13, thanks for your help with the Nicaragua article. It needs a bunch of work. Thanks for reviewing my edits. There is a continual problem with user 190.53.15.171. I am relatively new to Wikipedia and am not sure on how to deal with it.--Agrofe 14:31, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

That user (although it may be more than one) has been blocked on several occasions. If the vandalism becomes unmanageable, we could request protection of the page to block anonymous edits. I have invited that user to join in the hopes that they will participate in the process. We'll see what happens. Thanks SRICE13 (TALK | EDITS) 15:22, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, he was indef blocked for a vandal-only account. Boy, was he a bugger. Diez2 16:32, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Carlos Fonseca

No offense to you either, but putting an allegation as damming as being a member of the KGB in the first paragraph or an article, when it may not be true, is grossly unfair to Fonseca. I moved the KGB stuff to later in the article and balanced it with a critique of Mitrokhin. I hope this is okay. Griot 05:50, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bolívar's War

You had indicated that were interested in merging and rewriting Bolívar's War and South American wars of independence. Do you still plan on doing this, and if not, may I delete the merge requests that have been in place since April 2006? Please respond on my talk page. --Selket Talk 21:43, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

P.S. I am removing the request templates since you are the only one who has expressed recent interest in merging the articles. -Selket Talk 22:12, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Archive

Hi, i noticed you archived the last discussion page on Nicaragua. The current discussion page is two, maybe tree times s long as the 2 previous archives. I don't know how or when to archive article talk pages so i came to ask you. There is one discussion going on right now so i don't really know if it should wait but it is too long i think.  LaNicoya  •TALK• 23:40, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AstrawareLogo.png}

Thank you for uploading Image:AstrawareLogo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
