Talk:Sri Lankan independence movement
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am neither British nor ceylonese, however I strongly believe that Wikipedia should be impartial, especially in respect of articles about the history. This entry is clearly written from partisan, on this occasion radical communist, point of view. I strongly feel that there should be some kind of positive censorship regarding the contents of the articles. The one about Ceylonese "independence struggles" is right out of the edition of Pravda from 1st Decemeber 1952.
[edit] Portrayal of the British
I wish to protest about the way British people are being portrayed in theese Sri Lankan articles. Please I want the British portrayed in a neutral way, not the one sided anti-British, Anti-Impieralist nonsense that already is here. Don`t give me any of your leftie politically correct nonsense. There is quite enough Anti-British drivle on this website and I call on all Britons here to stamp it out.
I am British - my ancestors fought in the British Army from 1856, in two world wars - and I should like to point out that there is nothing in these articles against the British people, but specifically against the British Imperial System. The associated article about Dowbiggin points out that it was the the system itself and not Dowbiggin that created problems. I do not think that a 'neutral' stance can be taken about slavery. The men who took part in the Cocos Islands Mutiny had volunteered to fight fascism and found themselves at the butt end of the very racism they had joined up to fight. Surely, a system in which the Commander-in-chief calls his principal civil defence officer a 'black bastard' and is not even repremanded, is not commended by anonymous writer above? Why do you disown our glorios Empire that we should not have given up. This site is the worst example of Anti-British nonsense on the internet. You sir are a politically correct follower, why not follow the ways of Mr Churchill and Mr Mosley and stand up for your country and Empire nomatter what political differences there are.
i am sri lankan and i feel the way that u say the british were neutral is decpicable. the british were cruel and took over contries that were not theirs imagine a country taking over britain. the british just wanted land and wealth. no more to it. Sri lanka, india and all other countries that were ruled by the british have a right to rule themselves.
[edit] Lahiru k and his “High caste”
If Lahiru k wishes to include his notion of “High caste in this article he should explain what is his so called “High caste” and also what then are “low castes”.
