Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology (SVCET) is an engineering college located in Tiruvallur, a district adjacent to Chennai city (formerly Madras), in Southern India.

Sri Venkateswara Educational and Cultural Trust, Chennai promoted Sri Venkateswara College Of Engineering and Technology. Comprising eminent personalities in field of education for the benefit of underprivileged, downtrodden of the Telugu Linguistic Minority in the area of Thiruvallur and the adjoining areas where Telugu Migrants Predominantly Inhabited. The college was established in year 1999-2000 with AICTE approval and started functioning from 2000-2001.

Sri Venkateswara Educational and Cultural Trust was formed to provide Higher Educational Opportunities to the students of backward area in and around Thriuvallur.

The courses of study are organized on semester programs and each semester provides for a minimum of seventy instructional days. The medium of instruction is English. Students are evaluated on a continuous basis throughout the semester.

There are presently five associations in the College to broaden the spectrum of knowledge of the student and provide an insight into the practical application of theoretical aspects taught in the class.

A Fine Arts Club will be functioning in the college, aiming at developing the students talents in Music, Drama, Drawing, Writing, Elocution, etc.

All eligible students can avail all Scholarship facilities offered by both Govt. of India and Govt. of Tamilnadu. Besides these, the college management may also offer financial support in deserving cases.

Career Counseling And Guidance:

The college conducts regular counseling sessions for the benefit of the Students to improve their studies and score better in the University and competitive examinations. The college also gives guidance to pursue their post-graduate studies. Every student is attached to a faculty member who acts as the student's counselor for guiding and directing him in academic and personal development to attain academic excellence with professional competence and sound character.

Separate hostels have been provided for boys and girls by the College. Both hostels are fully furnished and every facility has been provided in them for the comfort of the students. The hostels are also within easy access of the college campus.

[edit] Extracurricular activities

The college holds many inter college cultural, technical and sports meets. The most successful[citation needed] inter college event has been eQuest, which is organized by the department of IT and CSE.

The college also organizes blood donation camps periodically.
