Sri lankan mountain rainforests are found above 1000 m in the central Sri Lanka mountain range. These forests once covered more than 8000 square km but now only 8% remains[citation needed]. Hortan plains, Hakgala and Piduruthalagala are popular places to view these types of rainforests[citation needed].
