I gather this is where people will communicate with me? Hard to tell, since nobody's come knocking yet. But this is a start, I guess. Look forward to getting involved!

- That's correct, and welcome. When discussing specific articles or other pages, that is generally done on their respective discussion (aka "talk") pages.
- If you have any general questions, or technical ones, feel free to ask me. If I don't know the answer, I might know where the best place to ask is.
- As regards your question on the Village Pump, you should make sure that whatever you put in your article is backed up by outside sources -- book reviews by periodicals will probably suffice.--Father Goose (talk) 05:01, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey, great! A real person! And with a sense of humor, no less!
Thanks for your advice...I will follow it and try to vet anything I might contribute prior to posting it.
Now--stupid question time. When I clicked "talk" after your name (in an attempt to reply to you), I saw the notice on YOUR page that said you'd be watching MY page...or something. Since I didn't see any way to email you from your page, am I to assume that somehow...magically...you'll know I'm writing this here note to you and that you'll then respond? How does THAT work? Thanks again...

- Help:Watching pages. I have it set in my preferences ("my preferences", top of the page) to automatically watch all pages I've edited, and I check my watchlist often.
- Two tips about posting to talk pages: you can automatically sign your posts with a link back to your user page by typing four tildes: ~~~~ or by clicking on the icon to the right of the W in the red circle which appears above the edit box.
- When replying to a person, add a colon in front of your post to indent it. If it's an ongoing conversation, several colons will accumulate as each reply indents further; just add one more than the post you're replying to. More information on Wikipedia:Talk page.
- For the most part, though, you can ignore all the rules and documentation: just be bold.--Father Goose (talk) 04:30, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and when adding sources to your writing, follow the advice at Wikipedia:Cite#How_to_write_them. That helps to keep everything on the up-and-up.--Father Goose (talk) 04:39, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
