Talk:Squash (professional wrestling)

Khali's only wrestled one match in WWE (against Funaki) - does this qualify Khali for Squasher status?
Jaded1 19:42, 27 July 2006 (UTC) Should Triple H really be on this list? Regardless of his backstage politics, he's not known for squashing wrestlers in the same way guys like Goldberg or the Warrior did - he looked more vulnerable against TAKA and Jeff Hardy a few years ago than Goldberg did against the top stars of the NWO.

[edit] do we need the list?
Seems pointless to me. Bdve (the preceding comment was signed at 02:51 on 26 August 2006)
- A short list of well-known matches, I think, would be useful to help those unfamiliar with what a squash match is. That's likely why it was included. Just as long as it's not allowed to get out of hand. [[Briguy52748 17:15, 6 December 2006 (UTC)]]
- That comment was referring to an earlier list of wrestlers, not the current one of matches. Jaded1 21:49, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Some matches listed are not squash matches
According to the definition the same page gives you the Finger poke of doom match and the Cena vs. Edge match are not squash matches. None of the wrestlers involved were buried to put over the other guy they were just angles to promote how cheaply Edge won the title and what lengths the nWo are prepared to go to stay togheter (or something like that). - I agree. Neither the fingerpoke of doom nor Edge's MITB match were squashes. A true squash has to portray the squasher as completely and utterly dominant over the squashee, who is destroyed by the sheer overwhelming power and ability of the squasher. The Warrior defeating Honky Tonk for the IC title, that's a squash; the Warrior is put over as being so overpowering that he can just destroy Honky effortlessly. The fingerpoke of doom isn't like that at all; Hogan didn't destroy Nash through superior ability, he won the belt because Nash gave it to him. Likewise, when Edge cashed in the MITB, he didn't destroy Cena because he was booked as far above Cena in ability; he won it because he was booked to be taking advantage of a Cena who was weakened after fighting off five men in an Elimination Chamber.
