[edit] Deletion Request?

I deleted your request to delete this page. This is a community with over 50,000 listeners the page is a valid contribution as the community continues to grow. I will be adding more info and pages later today. All information is sited. I'm still working on the page--SteveRev (talk) 18:44, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

I guess you didn't read the bit that said "do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself." Anyway, I feel that the article does assert importance, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag - however please review our notability guide for web content. Marasmusine (talk) 18:47, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Marasmusine. I deleted it because I didn't want the page to get auto deleted or something. I posted it after spending hours figuring out how to work Wikipedia and literally 2 minutes after posting it someone placed a "Speedy Deletion" request. I didn't think it was fair so I took it off. I'll read the guidelines and try to fix the page best I can. But I know the community around Squad XP loves Rodder and K Rock and appreciate what they are doing.--SteveRev (talk) 19:05, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Can someone help me clean up the page a bit?--SteveRev (talk) 21:17, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm trying, K Rock has asked the community to try add images of the versions and logos and such, i've added the little box on the right with the logo in etc.. but i don't have a clue how to work wiki, so i'm trying to figure out how to get a picture of the version onto it. The current version of the site is 3.0--Gamingkrazy (talk) 23:01, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. This has been no easy task. People on here have been helpful though. :) Takes a little getting used to but after using it you figure out how to do stuff.--SteveRev (talk) 23:15, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Can you somehow try and get the squad xp motto underneath the logo "Squad XP.com: Girls, Games, Life & Fun!" i have tryed the caption tag, but nothing seems to be working--Gamingkrazy (talk) 23:18, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Complied with Admin Request

Found sources and hoping to stop getting slammed by admins. I'm going to site one more fact then hopefully that will be it. Marasmusine at least understands we exist and just wanted it to be cleaned up and work in terms of guidelines for notability. We have thousands of listeners, we rank in the top 10 for community shows, we're recognized by multiple major corporations. I feel the page now reflects notability and has enough citations to proves it's worthiness on wikipedia.SteveRev (talk) 00:19, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Hiya. I'm not an admin, I'm just an editor like yourself. The reason I put a {{fact}} tag at the statement "a project with a significant role in the gaming industry", is because statements like that need citations. You've done good work finding citations for the article, but the citation you added for that sentence doesn't really fit the statement. If we are going to say that it has become "a project with a significant role in the gaming industry", we need to find a source that says that, or something to that effect. Does that make sense? If you need any help with these things, feel free to ask. I already helped with a piped link, which I suppose is only a minor thing, but every little helps, right? :)
That said, I am going to re-add the {{fansite}} tag that was removed, as the article currently has a bit of a fancruft-style tinge to it at parts (don't mean to be offensive). That is, parts of the article (specifically the Version 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 sections) are of little interest to those who are not fans of the subject in question (in this case, members of the community). An example would be in the Version 1.0 section, which says that they met while working at Cingular Wireless, which is extraneous, just as it would be for the article on Microsoft to say where Bill Gates met Steve Ballmer or Paul Allen.
I won't be re-inserting the notability tag (I will leave that up to other people to consider, especially as I didn't insert it in the first place), but feel free to ask if I can help in any way, either here or on my talk page. Thanks. --Dreaded Walrus t c 00:49, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Dreaded, I get what your saying. Appreciate you taking the time explain yourself.SteveRev (talk) 01:04, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

I'll go through the article tonight, but quickly glancing now shows the article suffers from POV; the opening paragraph of Version 1.0, for example, or comments like "With crappy graphics and a horrible color scheme...". That opening paragraph for Version 1.0 also suffers from a lack of independent sources. Please review WP:NPOV and WP:V, or I can clean it up myself later. I have yet to examine your sources for WP:N, again I'll check later. Marasmusine (talk) 08:15, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
The article seems to be written in a tone indending to promote the subject. I've removed a fair amount of material that would seem to be unverifiable or not written in a neutral point of view. Notability has still not been asserted; please see WP:WEB for criteria specific for web content. I don't see how a blog entry mentioning XP in passing qualifies as a citation for "a project with a significant role in the gaming community", for example. Please provide further references for coverage from reliable, independent sources. Marasmusine (talk) 10:03, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Humm, ok. Thanks for cleaning it up. I'm gonna see if this weekend I listen to the old shows where they mentioned all this stuff. As for the blog entry it shows how they were invited to Tokyo. All expenses paid by Microsoft. In the Tokyo show's he thanks them for all the stuff. Maybe I should Link to that? The Xbox Team isn't going to spend money and fly someone across the world and pay for 5 days of hotels if they don't think they're a significant voice in the community. SteveRev (talk) 17:58, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but all the blog entry says: Kelly, aka Squad XP's KRock, host of the Squad XP Podcast joined us. We swore him to secrecy on a number of things... Peter Moore reminded us all that "what happens in Shinjuku stays in Shinjuku." I'm not sure what he meant by that...
Encylopedically speaking, this reads: "John Porcaro had dinner with Kelly in Tokyo." That does not translate to "What was once a small project has become a project with a significant role in the gaming community."
What the article requires is to show that Squad XP has been the subject of independent, non-trivial coverage. Marasmusine (talk) 19:39, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
