For larger guns which fire whole potatoes, see Spud gun (air cannon).

A spud gun is a small toy used to fire a fragment of potato, made in a factory. They are fired by a burst of air produced by squeezing the grip. They are short-range, low-powered, and are intended as a child's toy. They reload by pressing the muzzle into a potato to cut a small piece out.
