Talk:Springside, Ayrshire

I beg to differ about the "Bankhead Family from N. Ireland giving their name to the ares". The earliest recording of the Bankhead surname is in 1527 in Riccarton parish. Their are many references to the family in Kilmaurs/Kilwinning/Irvine in 16th and 17th centuries. They spread FROM Ayrshire TO Northern Ireland in the 17th and 18th Centuries.
Documents survive in National Archives showing these particular "lands of Bankhead" at least as far back as 1512.
Bankhead is an exceedingly common Scottish placename, but a most uncommon surname.
