From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Springfield Plantation was the boyhood home of Zachary Taylor, the 12th President of the United States. It is located in Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA. Zachary Taylor first came to Springfield in 1785 with his family, and he resided there for most of his first 23 years.
The original house was a log cabin, which was replaced with the Georgian Colonial brick structure that still exists. The 400 acre plantation was expanded to 700 acres and included numerous slaves.
