Springfield High School consists of three main constructions: the main building, the vocational building, and the workout room. In addition, there are several portables located behind the school.
The main building is divided into four separate halls (A, B, C, and D).
A-Hall contains computer classes, some mathematics classes, the library, and the Guidance Department, and leads to the cafeteria.
B-Hall contains the History Department, the Social Sciences Department, some of the Art Department, and the English Department, in addition to most of the Foreign Language Department and the Newspaper Room.
C-Hall contains the Art Department, the Music Department, the Agricultural Department, some of the Culinary Arts Department, some of the Foreign Language Department, and the Special Education Department.
D-Hall contains the Science Department and the Mathematics Department, in addition to most of the Technological Department.
The Vocational Building contains Shop classes and the Culinary Department, along with other technical departments.

Efforts to expand the school, merging the main and vocational buildings, began in early 2007. Among the additions to the school will be a multi-story extension of B-Hall, a new Lecture Hall, a new gymnasium, and new offices. Construction will be finished by the end of the 2007-2008 school year.

The 1993 football team won the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) state championship for class 3A. The team finished with a record of 13-2, under first-year coach Randy Thomas.
