[edit] Athletics
After many years of being the athletic powerhouse in the (now non-exsistent) Mid Miami League, SHS has moved onto the more challenging Greater Western Ohio Conference, with rivals such as Lebanon and Centerville.
Springboro Community Schools has recently completed a multi-million dollar partnership with Miami Valley Hospital, giving them naming rights to the stadium "CareFlight Field," named for the hospital's "CareFlight" helicopter. This deal also provides "CareFlight Field" with turf surfacing, a new track, and a three story building which will house doctors' offices and athletic facilities, along with an adjoining two-story press box. When completed in the year 2009, this will be one of the premier athletic football facilities in southern Ohio. With many schools following its lead, Springboro was the first school to compile a partnership like this.
Along with the football facilities, SHS basketball coach Troy Holtrey raised over $20,000 during the summer of 2006 to build a state-of-the-art locker room. It comes complete with custom built wood lockers, automatic-retracting Hi-Def projector screen with surround sound, a replica basketball court hardwood floor, custom carpeting and coaches' offices. It is said to set the standard for high-profile locker rooms in not only high schools, but colleges as well.
