[edit] Summary

This is a picture of the Historic Springhouse at the Blackacre State Nature Preserve and Historic Homestead. This was the "refrigerator" of the residents of the homestead. Water flows on the bottom floor where fresh fruit, meats and other perishable good would be kept very hold. The top floor was built for the residents of Blackacre to stay cool on a hot day. This was one of the original buildings at Blackacre, built in 1790s.
