Wikipedia:Sports on ITN

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

? The following is a proposed Wikipedia policy, guideline, or process.
The proposal may still be in development, under discussion, or in the process of gathering consensus for adoption. Thus references or links to this page should not describe it as "policy".
This page in a nutshell: The following sporting events should be included on the In The News template. Other sports events should only be added if they satisfy other ITN criteria

This is a proposed supplement to the existing ITN criteria. A suppose it would be a wp:guideline, but since the ITN criteria is simply criteria, I'm not quite sure.

There is always arguing and adding/removing of sports stories on ITN. As has been suggested (many times) before, this is my attempt to standardize what gets included. Please edit as necessary.

Sports articles are unique from other ITN candidates as we can see them coming and should prepare for them. There is no reason not to have a pre-existing list of approved events. NOTE: This is not intended to preempt other ITN guidelines regarding inclusion such as unusual and particularly important events.

Every entry applies to the conclusion of the tournament or series
