[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!!!

Hello Sportslit! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. If you decide that you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. You may also push the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. Below are some recommended guidelines to facilitate your involvement. You have recently re-created the article Sportsvite, which was deleted in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policies. Please do not re-create the article. If you disagree with the article's deletion, you may ask for a deletion review. -FisherQueen 00:17, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to confuse you- I messed up the coding when I placed this template on your page. This article on Sportsvite has already been deleted once, because the web site doesn't meet Wikipedia's notability requirements. But your help is still welcome on Wikipedia- we can always use good new editors! -FisherQueen 12:19, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
The way I started on Wikipedia was through the Community Portal - click on it on the left toolbar. There are lists of articles that need improving, and it's a great way to learn about what makes a good article. There are articles that need grammar and spelling help, or need links to other articles, or need to be added to categories, and instructions on how to do it. Feel free to ask me questions, and don't let yourself get too upset if other editors don't agree with what you do- things can get heated here sometimes, but we're all working together to build the encyclopedia. -FisherQueen 18:47, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sportsvite

The article was deleted for a few reasons:

  • It was written like a press release, which makes people view it as spam.
  • There are no verifiable claims of notability. Being one of more than 500 sites to win an honorary Webby Award is really not much of a claim to notability.
  • No independent verification of the site's user base was provided. Even then, it would need a lot.

Hope this helps. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 20:23, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Glad to hear you'll give it another shot. If you have any other questions, let me know. I can offer one suggestion - you can create temporary subpages off of your user page, which can be used to work on articles before they move to the main article space. If you want, you can create one by clicking here and starting your article there. I'd be happy to look it over when you think it's ready. That way the risk of deletion is much lower. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 18:02, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Eric Bolling

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Eric Bolling, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.1440wallstreet.com/index.php/site/comments/the_eric_bolling_diaries_a_trader_is_born/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 04:47, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Bolling-face.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Bolling-face.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 17:18, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
