Aside from the books listed, another memorable scene with a sponging-house is in Thackeray's VANITY FAIR, when Lord Steyne tries to get Rawdon locked up so that Steyne can have an affair with his wife. Thackeray's depiction of it is comparatively tame. CharlesTheBold 04:21, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
