Talk:Spolia opima
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Opima or Optima
I think there's a confusion here. Google reveals roughly the same number of hits for each version. This discusses it briefly, but the link isn't working now. Best as I can make out, the phrase is "spolia opima", meaning something like "rich spoils". It does not mean "best" anything - that is the translation of "optima". Are there any Latin scholars here? - "Rich" is indeed a better translation, and I am about to edit accordingly. Ou tis 19:10, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
