Sports Collectors Digest
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sports Collectors Digest is an American advertising weekly paper published at Iola, Wisconsin. The magazine provides an avenue through which sellers, traders and avid buyers of sports memorabilia may interact. SCD contains price guides and advertisements of sports cards, mostly.
The July 13, 1990 issue contains 332 pages. Accounts of some athletes of the past and their activities festoon some of the pages. Other issues are written similarly. Pages are 11x14 inches (28x35.5 cm).
The magazine has been deeply impacted by eBay and other online trading sites. Recent issues of SCD have been as sparse as 56 pages. Many advertisers have dropped out. Others take small ads referring readers to their websites.
SCD has been consistently lax in covering news of the prevalent scandals and frauds in sports collecting. The publication's naive position has been that mainstream media unfairly emphasizes negative stories about collecting.
