SpongeBob SquarePants (season 4)

Season four of the television series SpongeBob SquarePants premiered on 6 May 2005 and ran until 31 March 2007. Season four consists of 20 episodes. Starting with "Fear of Krabby Patty" / "Shell of a Man" and ending with "Best Day Ever" / "The Gift of Gum". Volume 1 of Season 4 was released on 12 September 2006. Volume 2 was released on 9 January 2007. [1]

61 | May 6, 2005 | "Fear of a Krabby Patty" | Plankton anonymously orders 10,000 Krabby Patties. Eventually, SpongeBob becomes afraid of Krabby Patties after the nonstop work. Plankton pretends to be a psychiatrist, in order to treat SpongeBob's Krabby Patty phobia, in order to get the Krabby Patty secret formula. Much to Plankton's dismay, SpongeBob stays asleep during a hypnosis session, where he overcomes his phobia in a dream, and goes back to the Krusty Krab fully rehabilitated. |
"Shell of a Man" | Mr. Krabs is going to a Naval Reunion, but he molts his shell right before the event. So SpongeBob attempts to impersonate Mr. Krabs by wearing the recently molted shell. At the reunion, everything is going well, until SpongeBob has to fight one of Mr. Krabs' buddies and the shell breaks in the process. The real Mr. Krabs comes out and tells the truth, but to the surprise of him and SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs' old buddies had secrets to hide themselves. | ||
62 | May 13, 2005 | "The Lost Mattress" | Mr. Krabs can't sleep, so SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward buy him a new mattress. They throw the old one in a junkyard, only to find out that all of Mr. Krabs' money was in the mattress because he doesn't trust banks. Mr. Krabs ends up in the hospital suffering from shock, leaving SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward to retrieve it. |
"Krabs vs. Plankton" | Plankton goes into the Krusty Krab one day and slips on a wet floor. He files a lawsuit against Mr. Krabs for everything he has, including the Krabby Patty's secret formula, because there was no "Wet Floor" sign. When Mr. Krabs' defense lawyer slips and injures himself on the floor, SpongeBob takes over. SpongeBob spends most of the trial trying to open a briefcase, but what's in it can help Mr. Krabs win the case. | ||
63 | November 11, 2005 | "Have You Seen This Snail?" | SpongeBob gets a new paddle ball set, and decides to take the "Dirty Bubble Challenge," which means he'll have to hit the ball billions of times in a row — literally. So determined to beat the record is SpongeBob, that he forgets to feed Gary, who then runs away from home. While SpongeBob and Patrick set out to find the mollusk, Gary ends up with an elderly woman, who renames him Miss Tuffsy. While the woman seems gentle, she overfeeds Gary, who soon finds out the old lady's bad history with snails.

64 | May 20, 2005 | "Skill Crane" | Mr. Krabs purchases a claw vending machine for the Krusty Krab. SpongeBob wins something from the machine every time he inserts a quarter, while Squidward loses every time. This drives Squidward insane, and soon he puts all of his money, as well as the deed to his house, into the machine, trying to beat it. When SpongeBob tells him the secret to winning, Squidward finally wins something, a hairless teddy bear. His constant bragging soon gets him into trouble, though. |
"Good Neighbors" | It's Sunday, and Squidward just wants to relax. He has a pedicure scheduled for later in the afternoon, but SpongeBob and Patrick keep spoiling his day. When Squidward is taken to the hospital by a couple who thinks he's sick, SpongeBob and Patrick end up getting his pedicure, driving him to set up a new security system in his home. Eventually, the system comes to cause more harm for Squidward than good. | ||
65 | September 23, 2005 | "Selling Out" | Mr. Krabs sells the Krusty Krab. When the new management takes over, the restaurant becomes "Krabby O' Mondays", a sports-themed restaurant. Mr. Krabs then decides to work there and finds the Krusty Krab ruined. Mr. Krabs drives everybody out and gets the Krusty Krab back. |
September 30, 2005 | "Funny Pants" | Squidward receives a huge migraine from SpongeBob's incessant laughter, so Squidward warns SpongeBob that he may never laugh again if he does not stop. SpongeBob thinks that he lost his laugh, and starts crying all the time. Squidward, tired of all the crying, tells him the truth and blows his laugh box out while laughing at his own joke. SpongeBob gives half of his laugh box to Squidward, causing him to laugh like SpongeBob. | |
66 | February 20, 2006 | "Dunces and Dragons" | After a terrible jousting accident, SpongeBob and Patrick go back in time to restore peace to a kingdom in peril-a medieval Bikini Bottom. |
67 | October 7, 2005 | "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture" | The local movie studio is producing a movie about SpongeBob's favorite superhero. SpongeBob and Patrick think it is wrong because they are using actors and try to make their own movie. After many days of hard work, SpongeBob and Patrick present their movie at the Krusty Krab. |
October 14, 2005 | "Enemy In-Law" | Plankton sees Mama Krabs one day and falls in love with her. Plankton tries to show her that he loves her but cannot. Finally, he asks her out on a date. Mr. Krabs gets mad at Plankton, thinking that it is another of Plankton's schemes to get the Krabby Patty formula. The next day Plankton asks Mama Krabs to marry him. She says no, Plankton asks for the secret formula, and Mama Krabs beats him up. | |
68 | October 21, 2005 | "Patrick SmartPants" | After falling off a cliff, Patrick's intelligence increases significantly. SpongeBob tries to get Patrick to play with him but he finds SpongeBob childish and declines. However, Patrick wants to be SpongeBob's friend so he jumps off the cliff again, and he and SpongeBob find out that he landed in a brain coral field. Patrick gets his own head back and becomes normal again. In the end they find out that Patrick's original head was a brain coral, and his real head (which is what made him smart) got into the brain coral field years ago. Nobody ever found out why. |
November 4, 2005 | "SquidBob TentaclePants" | SpongeBob and Squidward become fused together after going into Sandy's new invention. They are so mixed up that Mr. Krabs tells them they can't work at the Krusty Krab until they are back to normal. During Squidward's clarinet concert, their disguise falls off and everybody becomes amazed at how they are morphed together but Sandy spoils the moment by sending the two back to their original form. | |
69 | April 1, 2006 | "Krusty Towers" | SpongeBob and Squidward are going to the Krusty Krab one day and find out it is now a hotel called the Krusty Towers. The Krusty Towers has a pledge that says "We shall never deny a guest, even the most ridiculous request." Squidward quits because Patrick, the first customer at the hotel, makes him do stupid things. Squidward stays at the hotel and takes advantage of the plaque. In the end, Squidward requests a pool in his room, but it is too heavy and destroys the tower. |
"Mrs. Puff, You're Fired" | Mrs. Puff gets fired because SpongeBob has failed his driving test over a million times. Then a new teacher comes and he his very strict. He teaches SpongeBob very well until he really has to drive. Unfortunately, due to the new teacher's strict drills, SpongeBob can only drive while blindfolded. SpongeBob drives all over town and breaks everything. Since the best teacher can't teach SpongeBob, Mrs. Puff has to keep teaching. | ||
70 | May 5, 2006 | "Chimps Ahoy" | Sandy's bosses (three intelligent monkeys) are thinking about making her return to Texas unless she produces a useful invention. Not wanting her to leave, SpongeBob and Patrick help. They produce a cumbersome invention that does various grooming tasks, but it backfires. Then one of Sandy's failed inventions, a nutcracker, peels a banana. The monkeys become happy and offer Sandy an extension for 20 more years.

"Ghost Host" | The Flying Dutchman's ship breaks, so he goes to live with SpongeBob. The Flying Dutchman thinks he can't scare anybody. The Flying Dutchman tries to scare Squidward, who doesn't believe in ghosts, and he does, restoring the Dutchman's confidence. | ||
71 | May 12, 2006 | "Whale of a Birthday" | Pearl wants an excellent birthday party, but Mr. Krabs is too cheap to throw a successful one. Mr. Krabs sends SpongeBob to the mall to buy gifts for Pearl using his credit card. When SpongeBob gets back with gifts that costs a lot of money, Mr. Krabs freaks out, but Pearl loves him. |
"Karate Island" | SpongeBob receives an invitation to Karate Island so he can be crowned "King of Karate". Sandy decides to go with him to the island. SpongeBob gets captured by a con man named Master Udon and Sandy goes to save him. When she gets to SpongeBob, she finds out that they were trying to make him buy a condo. SpongeBob says no to the offer and they go home. The ending scene shows Squidward arriving at the island to be crowned "King of Clarinets". The episode was dedicated in memory of the Asian American actor Pat Morita, who played Master Udon. | ||
72 | June 2, 2006 | "All That Glitters" | SpongeBob has to make a "monster krabby patty," but when he tries to, his spatula (named Spat) breaks. SpongeBob feels upset, until he notices a new spatula, called Le Spatula. He had to pay all of the money in his pocket and five piggy banks, as well as Gary's diamond, his house, and his pants. Le Spatula runs away because he won't cook the "slop" that is a Krabby Patty. Now SpongeBob realizes that he's betrayed Spat's loyalty. He tries to apologize to Spat. He does not accept him and SpongeBob cries himself to work, when he returns to work Spat forgives him. He has to cook another "monster krabby patty" resulting in his arms falling off. |
"Wishing You Well" | Mr. Krabs decides to install a wishing well at the Krusty Krab and he makes SpongeBob go in to it to get the money. Patrick falls in and, with nothing else to do, they dig towards the "magic" which will supposedly grant the wishes. Squidward falls in, too, and when he gets pulled out he wishes to be far away from SpongeBob and he is promptly hit by a bus going "Very Very Far Away". SpongeBob tries to tell Mr. Krabs that magic just happened but he will not believe him. Mr. Krabs plays around with SpongeBob and wishes he was steamed and served with a side of butter, and it comes true. | ||
73 | September 22, 2006 | "New Leaf" | Mr. Krabs notices that Plankton has changed the Chum Bucket into a gift shop and worries that Plankton is up to something. Mr. Krabs spends time with Plankton and finds out he has changed. Mr. Krabs decides to give Plankton the Krabby Patty formula but after that, Plankton reverts back to his old self, causing viewers to believe it was just a very convoluted plan to get the formula. Mr. Krabs, who never let his guard down, actually gave Plankton a piece of paper that said "Gotcha! Love, Krabs." |
September 29, 2006 | "Once Bitten" | One day, Gary bites Squidward and Patrick says he is sick and he has gone mad. Gary goes around town biting everybody and they think they will get sick. A doctor comes in and tells them Gary just had a splinter and it was causing him stress so he bit everybody. | |
74 | October 13, 2006 | "Bummer Vacation" | Mr. Krabs says SpongeBob has to take a vacation, or else the Krusty Krab will be fined. SpongeBob can't possibly leave the Krusty Krab, so Mr. Krabs takes him far away from the Krusty Krab. On his way back home, SpongeBob thinks he is going to be fired, so he gets Patrick (who took SpongeBob's job) to stay home so he can go back to work. It turns out that SpongeBob wasted his vacation trying to get back into work. |
November 17, 2006 | "Wigstruck" | SpongeBob's walking down the street one day and a strange wig hits him in the head. SpongeBob keeps bothering everybody with his new wig so Sandy makes him take it off and lets it blow away to a different person. The wig hits a member of the famous band Ned and the Needlefish (who, incidentally, needs some hair or he is fired), and suddenly the wig is cool. | |
75 | October 6, 2006 | "Squidtastic Voyage" | SpongeBob and Patrick bother Squidward while he is playing his clarinet so the mouthpiece gets stuck in his throat. SpongeBob and Patrick have to go in Squidward's body to get the mouthpiece using Sandy's shrinking submarine. When they get to the mouthpiece, SpongeBob cuts it in half so Squidward gags it up. Patrick makes the sub large again inside Squidward, and havoc ensues the next day. ("Patrick, don't burp inside me! That's disgusting!") |
November 25, 2006 | "That's No Lady" | Patrick becomes convinced that he is in danger, so SpongeBob disguises him as a girl. Many citizens think Patrick is pretty and Mr. Krabs and Squidward attempts to ask "her" out. When SpongeBob says Patrick's name out loud the Mr. Krabs and Squidward become embarrassed. The person that Patrick is afraid of arrives at the Krusty Krab. Patrick finds out that "the scary guy" was just trying to sell him a timeshare. | |
76 | January 15, 2007 | "The Thing" | Squidward is riding his bike one day and gets covered in cement. SpongeBob and Patrick find him and start to keep him as a pet. Squidward gets out of SpongeBob's house, but the police catch him and put Squidward in the zoo. SpongeBob and Patrick get break the squid out and take him to a clarinet concert with other "things", where the concrete covering Squidward breaks off, revealing his true squid form. |
"Hocus Pocus" | SpongeBob buys a magic kit and starts doing magic tricks. SpongeBob thinks he turned Squidward into ice cream, and cannot change them back. He goes to the man that makes the magic kits but he is a fake. The real Squidward comes back and throws the ice cream away. Patrick then tells SpongeBob to turn him into a jar of mayonnaise, and he does so. | ||
77 | February 19, 2007 | "Driven to Tears" | SpongeBob fails his boating test again. Thinking that it's rigged, Patrick decides to take it himself, and passes with a perfect score. When he goes to get his license, Patrick is told that he's the millionth Bikini Bottomite to pass his or her test, winning him a free boat. He becomes SpongeBob's personal chauffer. Their friendship is tested when SpongeBob becomes jealous, but it doesn't help that Patrick rubs his license in SpongeBob's face every chance he gets. |
"Rule of Dumb" | A librarian discovers a shocking secret that Patrick descends from royalty, and that he is king of Bikini Bottom. With SpongeBob his loyal servant, Patrick takes the throne, but he abuses his power when he claims everything everyone in the city owns to be his. | ||
78 | March 31, 2007 | "Born to Be Wild" | SpongeBob suspects that a motorcycle gang called The Wild Ones is going to threaten the peace of Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob and Patrick try to dress up as scary bikers so they can scare away The Wild Ones. When they come, SpongeBob and Patrick find out they are called The Mild Ones, not The Wild Ones. |
"Best Frenemies" | Mr. Krabs and Plankton put their differences aside to find out the secret of a new drink. Plankton gets mad at Mr. Krabs because he has to do all the work. Plankton makes Mr. Krabs buy the drink and they turn into kelp monsters because they drank it, along with everybody else who did, including SpongeBob. | ||
79 | February 19, 2007 | "The Pink Purloiner" | SpongeBob wants to go jellyfishing one day and can't find his jellyfishing net. SpongeBob goes to Patrick and he begins to think Patrick stole his jellyfishing net. SpongeBob finds his jellyfishing net and says apologizes to Patrick for what he had done, and Patrick forgives him. |
July 24, 2007[2] | "Squid Wood" | Squidward refuses to play with SpongeBob yet again, so he makes a replica of Squidward. Squidward begins to like the little squid until it starts doing all the things Squidward wants to do in life. A man comes to take Squid Wood away to become a star. SpongeBob, lonely, builds a fake SpongeBob and Squidward gets annoyed once more. | |
80 | November 10, 2006[3] | "Best Day Ever" | SpongeBob thinks that he is going to have the best day ever and his day starts out by going to the Krusty Krab. The Krusty Krab is closed, so he goes to Sandy's house. Sandy's dome is leaking, so she can't do karate with SpongeBob. He goes to Jellyfish Fields with Patrick, but Patrick breaks his net and has to borrow SpongeBob's. SpongeBob ends the day by going to Squidward's clarinet recital. SpongeBob forgets his ticket and finally gets in at the end of the show. Squidward and the others notice SpongeBob is sad and they put on another show for him. |
February 19, 2007 | "The Gift of Gum" | It is Best Friend's Day and Patrick give SpongeBob a large piece of gum. SpongeBob thinks it is gross and tries to get rid of it. Every time he tries to trash the gum, Patrick catches him. One day the gum gets stuck on everybody and Patrick has to eat it up to get rid of it. SpongeBob tells Patrick he wants to get rid of the gum and Patrick says he won't feel bad. |
