[edit] Merging rifle and pistol categories

I'm starting to think that dividing rifle shooters into 300 and 50/10 and dividing pistol shooters into 50/10 and 25 was a mistake. There is so much overlap that it doesn't really make sense: while far from all 50/10 rifle shooters also shoot 300, the converse is almost universally true (although it wasn't always in the past), and while many male pistol shooters specialize in 50/10 or 25 (mostly RFP) exclusively, women almost always double 10 and 25. So if nobody objects, I will merge the categories into a single Category:Rifle shooters and a single Category:Pistol shooters, which will also make get more natural-sounding names. As for Skeet and Trap/DT, I think I'll keep the distinction, as doubling them is unusual (Kim Rhode does come to mind). Any input? -- Jao 07:24, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Actually, Category:Pistol shooters might not be the best name for this, as it doesn't differentiate from Category:IPSC shooters. Category:ISSF pistol shooters is a bit unwieldy, but might be necessary. Should we then also use Category:ISSF rifle shooters for consistency? -- Jao 10:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
All right, I'm listing them at WP:CFD. -- Jao 09:20, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
