[edit] Tony Church

Hi Spider23. Thanks for your note on my page. It looks like you did a good job on setting up the disambig page and the page for your dad. Here is the way that you link his name on the page for the Carry On film that he worked on [[Tony Church (trailer writer)|Tony Church]] this is called piping the link. The staight line | is the most important part of this kind of edit. Everything that comes before it won't be seen after you save the page so the reader won't have to read what I call the qualifier - ie the (trailer writer) title that you chose. The thing that is important about piping a link is that now, when a reader clicks on the link, they will be taken directly to the page for your dad. Wikipedia likes disambiguation pages for people places and things with the same name, but, it also prefers that you bypass them when creating a link on the article page and piping the link accomplishes this. I know that this may not make complete sense yet but you will soon get used to this. Also, I have already fixed the link for your dad on the page for the Carry On film in question so it is good to go. The Manual of Style really does cover just about everything for editing, however, if, like me, your eyes tend to galze over when you get into them too deeply you can also look for help by going to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also type {{help me}} followed by your question on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

I hope that this helps a little and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 20:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I forgot to mention that the actor Tony Church has acted for several years in Denver, Colorado. I was lucky enough to see him in several plays. MarnetteD | Talk 20:14, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
