[edit] Toe silk

Apparently there's some speculation that silk glands on the toes may be an archaic form.[1] Seems like a scientific development that bears watching for this article. -- Beland 16:52, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Alien spiders?

This is quite possibly a dumb question, but: I was recently reading the novel "Funnelweb" by Richard Ryan. In this book the scientist character indicated there was some speculation in the scientific community that spiders may have originated via panspermia as they were markedly different to other terrestrial lifeforms.

Is there any such speculation, or was it just made up for the novel?
