Hi Speedboy,

If you mean Star Tugs Pier, there's a good reason for that - it's closed and migrated to Sodor Island Forums [1] ;) Thehalford 06:50, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Right handed batsman / Right hand bat

Hello. Why are you changing this in so many articles? I can't see anything wrong with "Right-handed batsman", and there isn't an established consensus. You might be interested in my question at WikiProject Cricket, which would probably be a better place for you to put your case than on my (or your) personal Talk page. Thanks. Loganberry (Talk) 11:32, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. No need to apologise, though - it's not as if "right hand bat" is wrong - but judging by the replies so far on the WikiProject Cricket Talk page, "right-handed batsman" looks like the preferred style. As far as bowling styles are concerned, I think the example change you gave ("off spin" -> "right arm off-break") is a good one, and I'd certainly support you continuing with that. Loganberry (Talk) 15:26, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Michael Yardy

You've changed "Left-handed batsman" to "Left-hand bat" again. Why? Loganberry (Talk) 00:35, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

I can't say it bothers me too much, and I appreciate that Cricinfo uses "bat", but my point is that there seems little reason to change an existing article. I won't change it the other way either, unless there's some WikiProject consensus - and when I asked on WP:C Talk a few weeks ago, "batsman" did seem to have more support than "bat".
And yes, a very satisfactory result. Especially a certain bit of fielding on the boundary! Loganberry (Talk) 01:36, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] North Korea

I read the article's talk page. There's also discussion on the country project page. If there are other discussions, please point them out. The latest discussion developed the change you reverted. Is there a reason why your version is more suitable? Rklawton 20:10, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Keep in mind that "Juche" is a philosophy (self-reliance) - not a government type. The constitution describes the government type as communist. Rklawton 14:48, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image in signature

Hey there, I have the Nirvana article on my watchlist and saw your question on the talk page. I don't know the answer to your question, but thought you should know that images are not allowed in signatures. I've seen users blocked for having images in their sigs and refusing to remove them. Other than that, keep up the good work and happy editing! --Bobblehead (rants) 17:52, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] re adoption

Hi! I'm originally from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, although I've been an aussie for nearly 8 years now. I have been offered help by User:The Rhymesmith but seeing as there is just so much to learn on wiki, any and all offers of help are gratefully accepted!! I try to keep a list of stuff I've been doing on my user page, so please feel free to have a look at those articles and suggest improvements/additions etc. any time. Although your name is now etched in my memory, so you can expect how to questions on your page from me quite often!! If I become a pest please do let me know to cease and desist.... --Mayalekhni 23:50, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

LOL! My dad is an MSU alumni - M Sc Statistics. As far as cricket goes, start out by supporting INdia, as soon as Tendulkar and Dravid are out, support Australia!--Mayalekhni 04:20, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HI IM THE GUY WHO WROTE THE QUESTION ON KURT COBAIN ON BASS

MY NAME IS MARCO

HI IM GLAD YOU AGREED WIT ME KURT COULD PLAY BASS, BUT NONE OF IT HAS BEEN RECORDED.

i HEARD U ARE A GUITARIST, SO AM I.

I AM 13 YEARS OLD AND I WANNA BE A MMUSIXIAN WHEN IM OLDER. PLZ WRITE BACK

Hi, do you have an account? Because it's easier for me to post it on your talk page. Yeah I'm a guitarist. I'm 19. Yes Cobain could play bass (if you have With the Lights Out, look in the book that comes with it and on the first couple of pages, Kurt is playing Krist's bass). I'm also pretty sure Cobain didn't play bass on In Utero. Speedboy Salesman 12:23, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Batsman/Bat

Please stop changing 'batsman' to 'bat'. 'Batsman' is the correct term for both male and female cricketers. It's not sexist. See the discussion on the cricket project page. You've been told about this before but still keep doing it, why? Nick mallory 03:04, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Flag icons

Hi, I noticed that you have added flag icons to several infoboxes to indicate places of birth/death. Please note that this is strongly deprecated by many users on wikipedia (also see recent discussion at the India notice board) and it would be great if in the future you could remove such gratuitous use of flags, rather than add them. Thanks. Abecedare 08:38, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

No problem and thanks for your understanding. This topic has recently been under discussion on the India notice board (linked above), and therefore was fresh in my memory. Abecedare 08:44, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Once again, please do not add flag icons to biographical infoboxes. As it adds nothing in meaning, often leads to edit wars, and overemphasises and over-simplifies nationality, we do not use flags this way. Thanks for all your other fine work. --John (talk) 02:32, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] English to British edits

Hello. Regarding your recent edits to The Beatles article and the articles of its members, please note it is convention on Wikipedia to use English/Scottish/Welsh not British, as you can see from the categories and many other pages. Please do not go round making these changes. Thanks.--UpDown (talk) 09:19, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Melissa Auf der Maur picture

I actually didn't take the picture, I just uploaded it. But unfortunately for some reason all that stuff has been replaced with stuff related to me... The original author of the photo was a flickr user who I contacted to gain GFDL permission for the photo. If you would like to get a hold of the original author, i can let you know their Flickr account name. Drewcifer (talk) 20:46, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Goa

Hi, Speedyboy :)

I noticed you are interested in the WikiProject Goa, since you left a message in Fredericknoronha's talk page. But apparently he's been inactive for a while (He's made only 4 edits since the beggining of the year, as can be seen on his contributions page), and thus I thought I'd drop you a line.

First of all, I think it is safe for you to join the project without asking permission (that would be the case even if he wasn't the only member of it), and invite more people. Actually, I'd say you're encouraged to do that.

Secondly, I'd like you to take a look at the message I sent him, about Fontainhas. You can read the message here. If you are interested, we can work on that, for a start.

Cheers, Waldir talk 15:36, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone else. I thought you already knew some, since you stated that in your message to Frederick... We can always look for people who actively contributed in goa-related articles, by parsing their history logs, but first, you seem interested enough to be able to lead the project with no problems. There are no deadlines, and noone is monitoring the work. Second, I must say I am not actually interested in being an active member of the project (that is, contributing with content for the articles or creating new ones). However, I'd gladly assist you in any maintenance task for the project, or figuring out how to manage it, since that is more my style of work. The exception to this is, of course, the Fontainhas article, for the reasons I stated in the message I sent to Frederick. Waldir talk 23:48, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually, it is not really that much of a big task... it's not for the amount of work, but for its nature that I prefer not to commit myself. As a wikignome, I prefer dealing mostly with fixing minor issues everywhere as I pass by them, instead of following a set of predefined tasks. That could mean working a lot in a specific topic of interests (like Goa, for instance), but as a product of my interest in the topic (which seems to be your case) and not as a task list I have to accomplish. Anyway, let me know if you decide to go ahead with the project. Cheers, Waldir talk 15:14, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
As I said before, I'd like to create the Fontainhas article. If you like, we can work on that. After that, we should start making a list of open tasks and adding them to the project (on its page, or, if necessary, its subpages). Perhaps the template it uses could also be edited to reflect these changes. Waldir talk 18:27, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

I have no other articles in mind. Perhaps any other with significant Portuguese influence? (I live in Portugal) Waldir talk 03:18, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Look, I actually don't mind the subject of the articles. As I said, all I'm willing to do is maintenance work, and for that we can work on any goan article, really. But why don't we start up on Fontainhas to see how it goes? If we lose too much time on planning things we will do less actual work :D Waldir talk 15:56, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Sure! there are no deadlines anyway ;) Have fun! Waldir talk 18:18, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I will do it tomorrow, but keep in mind that the actual contents of the article are really short. It is just a mini-stub. THe idea is to incorporate info from the external links: A Late Afternoon in Fontainhas and Wandering around in Fontainhas. Waldir talk 00:29, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok I just started Fontainhas (quarter) from translating the Portuguese article. Have a look and tell me what do you think. Waldir talk 11:42, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Why would anyone delete it? It might be a stub but it is not trash... Waldir talk 21:29, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] North Korea

Hi! I reverted an anon edit this morning to North Korea that reverted the correction you made yesterday. From what I understand there seem to be consensus on "Juche Socialist Republic", can you confirm? Also I've posted some comments on the talk page to try removing the POV-tag, can you review my proposals and comment? Thanks! Mthibault (talk) 08:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
