[edit] Reason not to Delete

I am trying to follow the guidlines as set out by the Speedy Deletion thing. I did not create the page so i removed the db-nn thing.

I do propose that this company has significance int he industry as they are an up and coming company with a several new partnerships in the paintball industry and have created legues to help promote the industry that is already nationally recognized among the paintball industry. There clothing and appareal are at every Paintball scenario you go to and almost every serious paintball player has products or at least heard of Special Ops Paintball.

I beleive with time to develop the article this can be shown.72.192.79.132 16:16, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Another interesting point if you start to check quite a few of the other paintball pages discussion and regular Special Ops is mentioned quite a bit.

If this is going to exist it needs to be templated after other companies since it is a company. 72.192.79.132 15:42, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Some ideas to drive the no deletion point home:
  1. State some things that this company has done that none other has, that asserts notability. Otherwise, this page could easily be tagged as {{db-nn}}.
  2. Give more history on the company, and less on their products, otherwise it may start to read like an advertisement.
  3. Focus on why these products are notable, and important. What breakthroughs has the company achieved?

Happy editing! --BsayUSD [Talk] [contribs] 18:03, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you we were just trying to throw some things up to show we are getting going and want to make a quality article. We will continue to work on it. 72.192.79.132 18:18, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Great. I'm really excited to see this article expanded. Keep up the good work! --BsayUSD [Talk] [contribs] 18:24, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Make it Neutral

Need to stop copy pasting information from their store. Even though it is a good description it is biased. From this point on we need to work on making this article neutral completely. I'll work on it some a bit today when i have freetime at work.

Also copying and pasting text from the company's website can be a violation of copyright, which wikipedia has a very clear policy against. Improbcat 14:39, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
We have permission, but I don't want to rely on copy-paste it seems sooo cheap to me. I am also going to work on going in and re-writing this stuff too.

[edit] Company Info bar

we need the following to complete the Infobox for Special Ops

Company logo
company type (LLC, C corp, S corp)
Small list of key products

[edit] Other Products

It think if SO has more than 3 products they custom make then it should be in its own section with descriptions about each. 72.192.79.132 17:28, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My edits

I'm not sure this company meets Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), however I'm giving the article a chance to show it's notability before i tag it. I would strongly suggest you read those notability requirements and make your edits with them in mind. In particular you will need some independent secondary sources. In the mean time I am doing some cleanup of the article for readability and proper encyclopedic tone. Improbcat 18:34, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Also as an FYI, My sum total paintball knowledge is that I read The Whiteboard, so if I screw up any of the technical descriptions or otherwise get something wrong, don't hesitate to revert my edit or correct my error. Improbcat 18:42, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Forums Section

The forums section was done by ~ Fusion v2/JK

Yes, and it was redone by me. Please do not sign articles or sections thereof, it is not considered appropriate to wikipedia. If someone wants to know who was responsible for a section they can check the edit history. Improbcat 15:13, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you I kept deleting the signatures. Thank you for addressing it more forcfully.

[edit] Unreferenced tag

I added an {{unreferenced|article}} tag to this claim as it needs Independent reliable sources added to it to prove notability per Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). The press release currently used as a reference is specifcally not allowed per those notability guidelines, but I am leaving it in for now as it may be worthwhile for an external link later. I would concentrate on this above other editing, as not having this makes the article much more likely to be deleted, which would make any other editing irrelevant. Improbcat 16:02, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

One of the biggest problems right now is someof the information came directly from me asking employees. Like the history so I am having a hard time tracking down sources. What can we have reference from a partner if not directly from Special Ops like a press release for example or something?
Read the two articles I linked to in my earlier comment. The info has to come from reliable independent sources. If there aren't any like hat, the company may simply not be notable enough yet. Remember, wikipedia is the place for things that are already notable, not a place to make things notable. Improbcat 23:59, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
I think one of the biggest things is they are notable, but I personally don't know much in the realm of the paintball community. I went to oklahoma D-Day which is the world largest paintball event with 5000 players in one scenario and over 90% of the people there was using Special Ops clothing gear accessories etc. Everywhere I went there people were talking about special ops. So from that experience I know they are notable in the community, I just am a bad googler to find it. To me what is an issue is what wikipedia may consider reliable. DO you want new york times level references or can small time paintball news sites work too? That is my problem. I have read those articles a couple of times. I will eventually get it. But i am still kind of new to wikipedia in general.
As paintball is still a relatively small hobby that hasn't broken into the mainstream fully, I know the places to find info are sometimes lacking. If you have articles from sites that are well known to the paintball community, that would be a good place to start. If some of hem turn out to be not acceptable, they can be removed later. A note though, forums and blogs are not acceptable references, also press release by Special Ops Paintball are also not acceptable, even if reprinted elsewhere. I *think* the press release by Tippmann is ok, as it was released by a separate company about Special Ops, but I am not sure on that. Improbcat 15:56, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Tippmann may be considered a Second-party in this case, which would make that press release not a third party source. Take the video game industry example from right here on Wikipedia: "In the video game industry, a second-party developer is a developer who, while being a separate entity from any console manufacturer, is tied to a specific one usually through contract or partial ownership and makes games specifically for that console manufacturer." Since Tippmann contracts with Special Ops, then there might be a conflict of interest issue with the source, though since it's not an exclusive contract, and Tippmann is a notable organization, the source might be ok. Definately leave it up until better sources can be found. --BsayUSD [Talk] [contribs] 16:18, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Header

I posted a talk page header on this page, it has some links you might find useful, and an extra reminder to sign your posts (~~~~). The article has improved a lot since I first looked at it. I have been looking for sources, but haven't been able to find any, which may just be because I know nothing about the topic at hand. --BsayUSD [Talk] [contribs] 15:20, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
