I'm confused: "The series was founded in 1972, and was called "showroom stock.""

Showroom stock still exists (SSC, SSB, SSA) in amateur club racing (SCCA). How did this series sever from SS? My understanding is that the allowable modifications are much greater in this series then they ever were (or are) in showroom stock. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thefirebuilds (talkcontribs) 18:56, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
