Speedeez are micro scale cars similar to Micro Machines. They were first produced by Playmates Toys in 2003. Despite their popularity, they only sold for a few years before being discontinued.
Like Micro Machines, these micros were almost all about an inch and a half in length. The big selling point for this brand of micros was the ball bearing in the base for added speed, hence the brand name Speedeez. All cars included the ball bearing, but some of the aircraft did not.
[edit] Vehicles
The first series of Speedeez were all military related. These early releases contained both airplanes and ground vehicles. The later releases contained mostly cars. There are many desired models that have never been released in micro scale, before or since, that were sold including the Jeep Jeepster, the PT Cruiser, the BMW Mini and the Dodge SRT-4. They also made a civilian version Hummer H2 that was quite popular. Like any good brand of die-cast, they also produced a good variety of Chevy Corvettes and Ford Mustangs.
[edit] Playsets
To go with all of these new cars, you could also buy numerous different playsets. The most popular was the fold out playsets that looked like real cars and could be folded open to reveal a larger play set for the micro vehicles. They made three different playsets in this style, the Mustang GT, the Mini Cooper and the Hummer H2. These playsets were often voted among the top toys of the year. There were also many different smaller playsets, including at least six different helicopter playsets.
