Specs Howard (born Jerry Liebman in 1926) is a radio pioneer who spent three decades entertaining audiences in Cleveland, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan. In 1970, he created the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in Southfield, Michigan. Since the school's inception, thousands of people have graduated and gone to have successful radio and television broadcasting careers.
His name was his professional on-air name. Reportedly "Specs" was taken for his wearing of glasses, and "Howard" randomly out of a phone book.
