[edit] Premise

Song has stated,

"It also stars Lisa Edelstein from House and Robert Grant, who’s on Queer as Folk. It’s a great film - she’s a courier, a special courier, and she has a job with a businessman in China, (and) he has something that he wants her to deliver, and it’s me, “Song explains.” She has to deliver me to my mom in Hawaii. There’s a whole lot of twists and turns. I can’t say too much about it, but let’s say that my dad, he hasn’t been completely honest, and there’s some people after us. “It’s fun; it’s a movie about forgiveness, whether it’s forgiving yourself or a friend or a parent, and it kind of shows two versions of that, which means her story and mine."[5]

The entire film will be shot at about 16 locations on Oahu, including Kahala, Waikiki, Chinatown, North Shore, Turtle Bay Resort. Honolulu Airport, a nightclub, hospital, and several street scenes. The production company (appropriately named) – Special Delivery LLC – is based at the Hawaii Media Inc. in Halawa Valley. The movie is the first by the Island Film Group and some 90 percent of the crew is local. Producer Francis Conway describes Special Delivery as a "Midnight Run-style action-comedy".

[edit] Plot

Special Delivery is about Maxine Carter (Edelstein), who works as a bonded courier. Her next assignment is to deliver Alice (Song), a bratty teenager who's making her way from China to the United States to be with her mother. Upon reaching the U.S., Maxine realizes that a trap has been set up for the two of them, and becomes responsible for Alice's safety.[6][7]

[edit] Marketing support

Lifetime Movie Network will support the release with a million dollar plus marketing and media campaign targeting the key tween and teen demographics, encompassing network and cable television advertising, integrated online and viral promotions and select brand partnerships. Song's demographics score an average 7 million without The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, which receives over 5 million weekly. The movie may have theatrical releases in Asia due to Song's popularity from the Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior franchise
