Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

• It illustrates an educational article about the book (1958 Permabound paperback version of Spearhead), an educational article about the cover illustrator (Robert Abbett) and an educational article about the author (Franklin M. Davis, Jr.
• It contributes to a critical commentary about the book and author.
