[edit] The Coveted Beat-Box Contest

Every year John Hersey High School holds a Beat-Box tournment, where contestants create their own "beats" before a panel of five judges. Dozens of students apply every year for this contest, and only seven are selected. This year's contestents were Neal Muller, Christopher Hammer, Jackie Black, Junyong Kim, Mark Jaeschke, Evan Loritsch, and Tim McPherrin. This year's winner was Tim McPherrin, who was also last year's winner. His score was an 9.8/10, impressive considering the next highest score was a 7.6, going to Christopher Hammer.

[edit] The Winner

Tim McPherrin is considered by all the students at Hersey to be the best Beat-Boxer that has ever gone to the school. His beats are legendary, and can scarcely be described in words. He has a superb use of syncopated rhythms, and combines several different techiniques. Not only drawing from hip-hop backrounds, Tim tries to work in rock, jazz, and even classical styles. Tim plans to make his talent his profession, aspiring to become like his personal hero, Felix Zenger.
