[edit] Water Recycling?
The article says that the liquid part of the toilet waste is eliminated to space. I'd be very surprised if space toilets did not attempt to recover some of the water by reverse osmosis or distillation - does anyone know if this is done? --ChrisJMoor 23:47, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Nothing I have read indicates that water reclamation has yet been used in space. Progress and the Shuttle deliver water stores to ISS on a regular basis, and carry limited stores. This is definitely technology which needs to be developed if humans are to go farther than LEO. Srain 15:33, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
So it seems (I've looked around as well). It surprises me greatly as water reclamation would be very useful, even if only for logistical reasons. My best guess for its lack of implementation are health concerns (or maybe the astronauts just find the idea distasteful?)--ChrisJMoor 18:24, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
