The Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Spanish High Council for Scientific Research) is usually known by the acronym CSIC. The CSIC consists of (end of 2005) 116 research centres, 2,369 scientists, 3,896 graduate and post-doctoral researchers and 4,084 technicians.
It has a budget of 530.06 million euros, of which 38.48% is external funding.
