Spamount

Spamount is a small village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, near Castlederg. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 309 people. It lies within the Strabane District Council area.

Between 1883 and 1933, Spamount was served by the narrow gauge Castlederg and Victoria Bridge Tramway. Spamount railway station opened on 4 July 1884 and finally closed on 17 April 1933.[1]

On 13 May 2008 an off-duty PSNI police officer was hurt after a booby-trap bomb exploded under his car, 0.5 miles (0.8 km) outside the village.[2] The officer was injured in the leg and lower body. Dissident republicans were responsible for the attack.[3]
