From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spalding Town Football Club were formed in the early 1990s by founder Andy Pamby and were first Known as Seas End Rangers, playing all of their home games at the playing Field in Moulton Seas End, near Spalding, Lincolnshire, England. They started off in the Boston Saturday League Division 3 and enjoyed many years of Mid Table Finishes and a few wins in the Cups.

In the 1999-2000 season they finished runners-up in the league and were promoted to the Second division for the first time. In 2001 it was decided to move the club to the castle and a new name was decided upon and were called Spalding Town (no links to Spalding United).

Spalding Town held their own in Division 2 for 3 years before Andy Pamby after many years of fine and dedicated service (he still plays a very active role within the club) decided to pass on the management reins to long standing player Richard Thorold who took them to glory by finishing runners-up in the 2004-5 season to take them up to division 1 for the first time.

[edit] 2005-2006 Season

In the 2005-6 season was a period of consolidating there status as a Div 1 Club which they did with ease finally finishing 5th in the league which was a testemant to the hard work of the back room staff and to the amazing efforts of the players who were basically still the same team as which left the third division. In the 2006-2007 season with the gradual Growth of the club was decided that Spalding Town needed a reserve team due to the growing number of players and also the ageing players who found the standard of the first division too quick and to blood in promising Youngsters. The person appointed to run the team was veteran player Andy 'Bugsy'Murrey with the first team still being Run by Richard Thorold.

2006-2007 Season

The 2006-2007 was a disappointing one for the first team with the team in a period of rebuilding finished in the bottom 2 (later to be reprieved by the withdrawal of clubs) and the reserves didn't play in a league just played a lot of friendlies last season with a lot of new players coming into the club which showed the set up of the reserves was bearing fruit with many of the talented youngsters making their bow in the first team before the season was out.

[edit] 2007-2008 season

In the Current season 2007-2008 Richard Thorold stepped down from First team manager and the Club appointed another long Standing player Pete Tomblin as first Team Boss. The first team have had a good start to the season winning 2 out of their first 5 games and the reserves have one 1 out of ther first 7 in the Boston Division 3 but their performances are improving with every game.
