Space Encounters
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Space Encounters is a 1978 TV Special hosted by the Carpenters.
[edit] Synopsis
Space Encounters begins with Karen and Richard Carpenter performing "Sweet, Sweet Smile" in the recording studio, when all of a sudden, the lights flicker uncontrollably. John Davidson is an alien, disguised as a human, who comes to Earth to learn about music and the arts, and Suzanne Somers is the co-pilot for their space ship. John and the Carpenters reminisce about their old days in the garage studio (they perform "Goofus") and about their audition (Karen sings "Little Girl Blue"). Afterwards, they head back to the space ship, where Richard plays "Piano Picker", and Karen and Suzanne do a duet with "Man Smart, Woman Smarter". The show ends with "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" and the Space Encounters Medley (found on the CD As Time Goes By).
